    Re: Wannabe Coaches

As far as football coaches go,how many head or asst coaches even played in college? I bet not many.

Some people can have a good knowledge of the game without even have played it or at least not have been too good at it.

Any one know if the head coach at their school played in college.Just wondering.

    Coach Adams at Burton didn't.
I'll always want a little more than I already have.

    Re: Wannabe Coaches

The following head coaches played that I know of:

    B.I. Salyers - Emory & Henry
    Jason Mullins - CVC
    Tom Turner - Virginia Tech
Rick Mullins - ETSU (I think so, I know his brother did)

    Re: Wannabe Coaches

    Tom Callaway (RC) - Tennessee
David Scammel (Castlewood) - Emory & Henry

Those are the only two head coaches in the Cumberland that I know played in college.

Clintwoods Grant(CVC) and Robenson(JMU) each played collage ball as well.

I am thinking that I had heard Collie from Haysi played somewhere as well (Does anyone know anything about that?)

    Re: Wannabe Coaches

I was just listing head coaches, but Kelly's Andrew Kilgore played at Lee's McRae, Brian Crutchfield at Emory, Josh Mabe at UVA-W.

    Re: Wannabe Coaches

Is Josh Mabe coaching football now? I definately feel you moonlight, DEFINATELY. I couldnt tolerate somebody who didnt play the sport and just read books and watched games yelling at me on how to play. Its a whole lot different when your actually out there playing the game then watching it on tv and thinking you know what your talking about.
